Join us and be part of something bigger.

We have paved the way for excellence in Integrated Care and in July 2016 took the  pioneering step to form one of the first Integrated Care Organisations.  We now provide adult social care services alongside our established healthcare services, which has given us the chance to develop better, more joined up ways of working that deliver improved outcomes for the local community.

This is a Consultant Radiology post required to support and develop diagnostic radiology services based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) in the face of increasing demand. Sub-specialty interests can be supported and we would encourage any interested candidates to contact the Directorate management team for further discussion. In particular, a sub-specialty interest in GU, chest, nuclear medicine or trauma imaging would be welcomed.

You will join a supportive and welcoming team of 32 Consultant Radiologists and 1 Specialty Doctor. Further details of sub-specialty interests of the Consultant Radiologists can be found in the table below. Within the 32 Consultant Radiologists, 13 are dedicated Neuroradiologists who provide all of the neuroradiology reporting including on-call.

There will be a commitment to general radiology workload including Consultant of the Session (COS) and on-call. On-call is supported by a Radiology Specialty Trainee and there is the provision for remote imaging review. Overnight reporting is outsourced.

The job will include input into MDT meetings working with other colleagues. There will be the opportunity to develop sub-specialty interests within radiology depending on the aspirations of the applicant and the needs of the service.

Individual flexible working arrangements can be considered and we would encourage candidates to discuss directly with the Clinical Director for radiology.

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust was rated as overall outstanding following a CQC inspection in 2015.

The Trust is advanced in its use of technology; an example of which is the state of the art Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and is the Greater Manchester single receiving site for major trauma, provides comprehensive thoracic, renal and urology imaging services and consequently an interest in any of these fields would be beneficial.

We are also the designated sector hub for high acuity surgical patients and is the single specialist surgical centre for oesophago-gastric cancer in GM. It is a centre for Bariatric surgery and a National Centre for Intestinal Failure. In addition, SRFT is the Greater Manchester Centre for Neurosciences and the Comprehensive Stroke Centre for the GM population.

Salford in situated in the North West of England just 4 miles from the centre of Manchester. The Trust is close to Media City, Salford Quays and within easy reach of Manchester International Airport. Manchester is a major city in the northwest of England with a proud history in science, politics, music, arts and sport. The city combines this heritage with a progressive vision to be a city that delivers on a variety of fronts; the city centre boasts unique and eclectic restaurants, bars, shops, museums, galleries and hotels. The surrounding Greater Manchester boroughs offer great places to live with affordable housing, high quality schools and easy access to rural environments including the Peak District and the Lake District.

This job description is intended to cover the main points of the post only. Applicants are invited to enquire regarding any points about which they may be unsure.

In line with the Trust’s Single Equality Scheme we welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnic origin, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, religion, marital status, social back ground or trade union membership. However, as  members of ethnicity minority groups,  individuals with disabilities and women are currently under-represented at this level of post, we would encourage applications from members of these groups.  Appointment will be based on merit alone.
