Join us and be part of something bigger.

We have paved the way for excellence in Integrated Care and in July 2016 took the  pioneering step to form one of the first Integrated Care Organisations.  We now provide adult social care services alongside our established healthcare services, which has given us the chance to develop better, more joined up ways of working that deliver improved outcomes for the local community.

This is a new Specialty Doctor post required to support and develop radiology services based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT). Sub-specialty interests can be supported and we would encourage any interested candidates to contact the Directorate management team for further discussion.

You will join a supportive and welcoming team of 32 Consultant Radiologists, 13 Specialty Trainees and 1 Specialty Doctor. Further details of sub-specialty interests of the Consultant Radiologists can be found in the table below.

You will provide independent plain x-ray reporting and ultrasound and will also have bleep holding duties. Fluoroscopy and CT examinations performed/reported will be checked by a Consultant depending on the expertise of the successful candidate.

Individual flexible working arrangements can be considered and we would encourage candidates to discuss directly with the Clinical Director for radiology.

This job description is intended to cover the main points of the post only. Applicants are invited to enquire regarding any point(s) about which they may be unsure.

Salford Royal is advanced in its use of technology; an example of which is the state of the art Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.

In addition, the Trust is the Greater Manchester Centre for Neurosciences and the Comprehensive Stroke Centre for the GM population. Christie at Salford opened in July 2010 and Salford Neuroradiology supports the SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery) service. We are home to one of the largest skull base services in the country. We also provide services to the nationally commissioned Neurofibromatosis type I (one of the two national centres) and type II (one of four national centres) services. SRFT is the regional centre for spinal surgery and serves a population of 3.2 million.

Salford in situated in the North West of England just 4 miles from the centre of Manchester. The Trust is close to Media City, Salford Quays and within easy reach of Manchester International Airport. Manchester is a major city in the northwest of England with a proud history in science, politics, music, arts and sport. The city combines this heritage with a progressive vision to be a city that delivers on a variety of fronts; the city centre boasts unique and eclectic restaurants, bars, shops, museums, galleries and hotels. The surrounding Greater Manchester boroughs offer great places to live with affordable housing, high quality schools and easy access to rural environments including the Peak District and the Lake District.

In line with the Trust’s Single Equality Scheme we welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnic origin, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, religion, marital status, social back ground or trade union membership. However, as members of ethnicity minority  groups and individuals with disabilities are currently under-represented at this level of post, we would encourage applications from members of these groups.  Appointment will be based on merit alone.
