The Position – Join our team

The successful candidate will spend 70% of their time working in one of the busiest major trauma centres in the country. You will be expected to provide clinical expertise on the shop floor and contribute to developing and enhancing our service. As part of your clinical duties you will gain first-hand experience of:

  • Clinical assessment / treatment of a diverse caseload of patients from the very sick, seriously ill or injured to the more minor common illnesses / accidents.
  • Advanced resuscitation skills
  • Progress point of care diagnosis using ultrasound skills and provide leadership / education to junior clinical staff
  • Clinical experience within paediatric emergency medicine can be considered on request

During the 30% non-clinical hours the Emergency Department will support the candidate to undertake a role of their choice designed to develop their portfolio for example :-

  • Education/Teaching
  • Research
  • Quality Improvement
  • Trauma

In addition you will have access to a highly successful QI team and mentorship from active clinical researchers in trauma, thrombosis, biomarker evaluation in sepsis and traumatic brain injury.

The department also has a clinical research lead and at present we recruit to over 6 national portfolio studies including traumatic brain injury, epistaxis, acute coronary syndrome & gastrointestinal bleeding to name only a few.
