Trustwide Rotational Post – Initially based at Fairfield General Hospital & Rochdale Infirmary

Pennine Acute NHS Hospitals Trust is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country.   It is based on four sites i.e. North Manchester General Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary, Fairfield General Hospital and The Royal Oldham Hospital.

This is a trust wide rotational position that may require working on all four sites and in the community.

As a progressive Pharmacy service we are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Registered Pharmacy Technician. We are keen to develop the roles of our technical staff, and to support their training and progression. This vacancy has arisen due to a Pharmacy Technician moving into a Medicine Administration post within the trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician, with good communication and teamwork skills. If you are able to work under pressure, and keen to develop yourself, we would like to hear from you.

This is a rotational post, where you will gain experience of dispensing, ward-based medicines management duties, medication reviews in community settings and clinical trials.

You will have the opportunity once trained to work as part of a clinical technical service team which will involve recording patient medication history and processing discharges at ward and community level. You will also participate in full dispensary duties.

You will need excellent organisational skills in order to undertake this role. You must be able to work accurately and quickly under pressure, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and be committed to the delivery of high standards in a patient focused service.

Applicants without the required experience / qualifications to meet the Band 5 position will be appointed to a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician grade, and are expected to achieve the qualifications and experience required to progress to a Band 5 post.

Please see job description and person specification for more details

The post offers an attractive salary, access to the NHS Pension Scheme and an annual leave entitlement commencing at 27 days per annum rising to 33 days (after qualifying service), plus 8 Public / Bank Holidays.

There will be a requirement to participate in working extended hours, late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
