Enthusiastic and highly motivated clinicians are invited to submit an application for the vacant post of Trust Specialist Registrar in Neonatology to work within the Neonatology Directorate, part of the Women and Children’s Division of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.




This is a full-time post which is available to start as soon as possible on a fixed term contract for 6 months but could be extended based at The Royal Oldham Hospital. The post is suited to a doctor with Neonatal training up to ST3 Level who seeks further experience and training in Neonatology on a part or full time basis.

The post-holder will work on a full shift registrar rota (Band 1A) exclusively within the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital. The Unit is one of Greater Manchester’s three designated Neonatal Intensive Care Units and is located in state of the art facilities in the new purpose built Women and Children’s Building. The Unit has 37 cots - 9 intensive care cots, 9 high dependency cots and 19 special care cots and provides all modalities of medical neonatal care including High Frequency Oscillation, echocardiography, inhaled Nitric Oxide and Therapeutic Hypothermia. The Unit is led by a dedicated team of experienced consultant neonatologists. All rotas are dedicated to neonatal care with no General Paediatric responsibilities. 

The post-holder is expected to continue his/her professional development and ample training opportunities are available within the department. The Trust has links with University of Manchester for undergraduate training of medical students and is a major contributor to a number of research studies in the region.

Acute general hospital services are provided for the population of the North East of Greater Manchester.
