Pennine Acute NHS Trust are seeking an experienced, positive and highly motivated individual to manage our very successful cardiac catheter laboratories with a view to developing services to their full potential. Our unit has excellent outcomes and high patient satisfaction.

You will be part of an expanding, ambitious and driven team that will work with you to fulfil the aspirations of the Directorate to further improve and modernise both our services and facilities.

You will have a health related professional qualification and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working at band 7 level within a cardiology environment.

We provide a range of complex diagnostic and enhanced specialist interventional procedures for patients with coronary heart disease, heart rhythm problems, heart failure and structural heart disease, such as;

  • Cardiac Pacing including complex cardiac implantable devices including biventricular devices, like defibrillators, Coronary angioplasty (PCI),
  • Echo and stress echo, TOE.
  • blackout investigation,
  • a full range of cardiorespiratory investigations,
  • heart failure service
  • cardiac rehabilitation services.


Patients requiring surgery are referred through to the tertiary centres at Wythenshawe Hospital or Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Acutely ill patients are admitted through wards at North Manchester, Fairfield and Royal Oldham hospitals. The laboratories are currently based at Fairfield General Hospital and this will be the base site for the successful candidate.

In addition to responsibility for the catheter laboratories, you will also be responsible for managing elective activity working closely with the booking teams to ensure patients are managed within agreed pathways and timescales.

The Integrated Cardiology Unit at Fairfield General Hospital comprises two cardiology wards: the Acute Coronary Care Unit (18 bedded Ward 2 for acutely ill and high dependency patients) and the Interventional Cardiac Unit (Ward 1 for general inpatient cardiology patients and elective cardiology day case patients).

At Royal Oldham Hospital there are 17 beds on Ward F8 and 5 beds in CCU and at North Manchester Genera Hospital there are 17 beds on Ward J6 and 6 CCU beds
